Pumpkin patch fun

Sorry I didn't post yesterday.  I meant to but.....I decided to start couponing again last Thursday or Friday but wasn't ready for my shopping trip yesterday.  I spent most of nap time getting ready.

Today was Pumpkin Patch day for Sarah's school.  It was fun.  We met them at the pumpkin patch and Yana and I followed them around with lots of other parents and then I got to take her home from there.  She wanted to ride the bus again but I told her she would have other opportunities.

She spent a lot of time holding her hood on her head.
The first thing they did was have their classes go to different stations.  Sarah's first station was the tent...which was nice because the wind was really chili.  A lady read them a book about a scare crow.
Then they got to color a scare crow and then glued fabric onto it.
Yana sat in the stroller the entire time, watching.  She wanted to get down but I didn't want to have to chase her around the pumpkin patch.
They played games after coloring and then they got to go for the hay ride around the property.  Sarah wasn't in much of a smiling mood.  She isn't feeling great right now.
I just thought this was cute/funny.
This is the pumpkin she picked out and brought home.  She is very excited.  She loves pumpkins.

It was a lot of fun to watch Sarah having fun and to put a few names to the faces of her new friends.  A lot of parents came to watch their children.  Sarah really wanted to ride the bus back to school but I talked her out of it.  She really liked the bus ride.  It was her first.

Well have a great afternoon.

1st day of school ever

Today is the first day of school but it is more than that for us.  Sarah is our oldest and it is her very first day of school ever.  She started Pre-K today.  She was so excited. Last night we picked out which outfit she would wear and set it on the guest bed.  She had one outfit picked out but it was supposed to be a hot day today and the outfit had pants so she decided to wear shorts instead.  We got up a little earlier than I think we will need to in the future.  We had nothing to do but wait for almost 20 minutes.  I woke them up at 7 and they took a bath and then got dressed.  Grandma bought Yana a new outfit too so she got to wear it today although it wasn't her first day of school.

Then we did hair and ate breakfast.  After that we brushed our teeth and waited until it was time to go.  A friend of ours called and invited Yana over to play with her daughter who is only 3 months older than Yana.  So I dropped Yana off on the way to school.

It was weird dropping Sarah off at school.  She has never done day care and has only been left with family and friends but this was different and it was just plain weird.  I was really excited to pick her up later and talk to her about her day at school.

She had a great time.  They sang songs, read books, had snacks, played on the toys and even made a hand print on a piece of paper next to a poem.  She loved it and I'm glad that she did.

She was very upset yesterday when she found out that they don't go to school everyday all week long.  She wanted to go Saturday and Sunday too.  Just got to love their enthusiasm.  Well I hope that you all had a great first day of school whether it started today, last week or later in the month.

School Supplies

It has been a long time since I have had to buy school supplies.  Yesterday when we went grocery shopping we found the list for my daughter and started buying things.  It was actually kind of fun.  She is so excited to start school and she wanted to help pick out the colors of her supplies.  We bought her a back pack.  She picked a "Hello Kitty" pink one which she wanted to wear around the store.  Then we bought markers, paint, scissors, a binder, a folder, Clorox wipes and Kleenex.  Oh and glue sticks and glue.  No pencils though so I figure they just have them use markers for a while.

I wish I knew what time of day she goes to school though.  I should find out next week, hopefully.  Well this morning I changed the flag in my yard to the "Back to School" flag.  For us it isn't back to school it is starting school and I think that Yana is jealous.  She kept taking off with Sarah's back pack.  It will definitely be interesting to only have one child in the house for the rest of the year.  Well I think I'm starting to ramble.  I just wanted to share the excitement.

I am not a teacher....

Ok well a month or so ago I started looking into a Pre-K for Sarah.  She is 3 so she isn't allowed into the public school system for another year.  I wanted to put her into a pre-k this year so she could get a jump start but they are so expensive.

I was looking online to see if I could find some lesson plans for an entire week.  If I have to make the plans and come up with all the information then it isn't going to happen.  So I found this website http://letteroftheweek.com .  It has lesson plans for different age groups and different things that you might want.  So that is what we are going to do.

We started this morning with breakfast and then we watched "Your Baby Can Read" and then went to the park.  After we got back we talked a little more about the word of the week.  We are talking about Calves this week.  So we got down and crawled around and "mooed" and talked about calves.

There is something to do every day of the week including: the letter of the week, number of the week, shape of the week, color of the week and so forth.  We will see how this goes.  Oh and there is the craft of the week.
