New bib and upcoming bibs in the store.

I finished a few more bibs and will be adding a new bib every couple days.  Here are just a couple pictures for you to see.  Make sure that you check out my store to see more pictures and see the cute new aprons.

There are more coming.  I know that these ones are more focused towards girls with the flowers and ducks.  Don't worry.  If you have boys and would like a pullover bib keep checking back or even let me know what colors you might be interested it.  I have browns and dark blues coming soon.  Hopefully in the next week I'll get them done and posted.

I also will have some cute grocery sack holders coming soon as well.  I just need to buy some more string and then I can get them sewn.  I have several projects on the table right now and will bet getting them done as I can.  I will start working on table runners here in about 3 weeks.  I will have sunflower table runners as well as a grape themed table runner or so.  If you have a different theme in your kitchen and would like a table runner to go with it please let me know what your theme is and I'll start looking for material to match the theme.

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend and that you have a wonderful week.  Thanks for stopping by.

Wednesdays Recipe - A pudding pie

Well I thought I was the last one to know or to do this but I like to make puddings into pies when I want a quick desert that isn't too high in calories but tastes good.  I started doing this mainly because I wanted a desert one time and all I had was a pie shell and pudding.

Pudding Pie
Graham Cracker pie shell
2 small or one large pudding box
Milk (to make pudding so whatever pudding says)
Mini Marshmallows (optional)
Chocolate chips (optional)

This is quick and easy.  You get the pie shell ready and then you make the pie according to the pie directions on box.
You pour the pudding in to the pie shell.
I like to drop a few chocolate chips in it and I dropped a few marshmallows on top last time.
Put in the refrigerator for an hour.

I know that was a lot of work. :)  This is very easy and very quick.  We usually do the vanilla or chocolate puddings.  Last night I made this with chocolate pudding and chocolate chips like usual and then got creative and added some mini marshmallows to the top.  My husband asked if I was trying to make smores.  It was really good.  It is quick and easy and very tasty.  The missionaries even liked it.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Goal continued...

Well needless to say I didn't lose the 1.5 pounds that I wanted to last week.  I'm really struggling to eat portions and crave healthy food.  I am trying.

Yesterday morning wasn't the greatest as far as healthy goes.  I didn't really eat anything structured.  My daughter and I ate snacks and things throughout the morning and lunch.  Dinner was an actual meal though so that got me back on track as far as eating goes.

Earlier in the day I really wanted to go for a run so I got everything ready and got dressed and ready to go and as soon as my husband got home I was out the door and going for my jog.  My daughter wanted to go and as much as I wanted to take her I decided that I wanted to see if I could run a mile and I didn't want to push a stroller while doing so.  So I ran and it felt awesome.  It was a little chilly outside but running when it is cooler is my favorite time to run.  I kept running and I didn't stop.  I went once around the pond which is 3/4 mile and once around our little block which is .4 miles.  When I got to my house my daughter was outside so I told her to come with me and I jogged right past the house to the corner (two houses down) and up to the next corner (another 2 houses).  I felt great.  I felt like I could keep jogging like I used to but I decided that I shouldn't.  I heard that if I push too hard when getting back into it I could hurt myself or overdo it so I stopped jogging at the corner and walked back with my daughter.

Oh I felt great.  I decided that I am not a wimp after all it must have been trying to jog with the strollers as a wind catch.  I will eventually be able to push the stroller but I guess for now I need to just get into shape first.

It was a great workout.

Sunscreen...oops

Saturday was beautiful and we took full advantage of it.  We washed and polished our cars.  After we were done with the bucket our daughter wanted to play in the bucket.  We got her all dressed in her swim suit and let her play.  She had a blast in that bucket for 2-3 hours until her friends down the street came out and invited her to play.  So then she played at their house for a while.

We had a good day.  I took our baby for a jog.  We got so much done without ever stopping to think that we needed sunscreen.  Later when we got Sarah dressed we realized our mistake. We had created a lobster.  Everywhere her swimsuit didn't cover was red.  We felt so bad.  My husband was even sunburned.

I guess we need to get the sunscreen out now that it is a little warmer.  It was a great day but like everyday we learned something new.

Saturday I also was going through Yana's clothes pulling out the things that she couldn't fit into anymore and other things that were just plain too warm for the weather here and I came across the bunting that I made her before Christmas.
She has never used it.  And she will never use it.  By next year she will have outgrown it so I have decided to sell it in my store.  So I posted it in my store.   I'm just going to find some lighter weight material and make her another one to sleep in.

4 Year Anniversary!!!

My husband and I have now been married for 4 years.  Time flies so fast.  I feel like we have been married forever (in a good way).  I love him so much.  He has given me everything I ever wanted from our marriage.  He is a wonderful husband who loves me and is a wonderful father to our two beautiful girls.  He works so hard to provide for us.  He spends all of his free time with us.  He even lets us come have lunch with him at work. :)

I am so very thankful for the life that I have.  It is everything I have every wanted and I wouldn't trade any of it.  I love spending time with my husband playing with our electric cars, going fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards, watching TV and playing with our girls.  I never have to worry when it comes to my husband.  I am so glad I found him before someone else did.

We have had a wonderful 4 years so far.  We have go to school at BYU-Idaho.  We have lived in Idaho, New Mexico, Idaho, New Jersey, Idaho, Owasso, Oklahoma.  We have two beautiful girls.  Sarah turns four next month and Yana is now 8 weeks old.  We have gone camping, hunting, snowmobiling and horse back riding.    We have sold our horses and Camaro.  We have bought 2 cars and rolled one.  We have invested in my sewing.  We have done so many things that I can't possibly list them all on here or we would be here all day long.  We have lived.  That is a good way to put it.  We have lived and loved each other every day and we plan to continue doing so for eternity.  I am so thankful that I have him for eternity.  I wouldn't want anything less.

Happy Anniversary!!!

New Pullover bib in my store.

I just posted this cute pullover bib on my store.  It is a toddler pullover bib and is machine washable.  I originally purchased this towel at Target so it is a nice bib.  My daughter loves her pullover bibs.   They are very durable and are a good way to protect your children's shirts from breakfast all day through dinner.  We use ours for all our meals and snacks that could stain or just get her clothes dirty.  Hope you like them.  I have several more very cute bibs coming over the next few days.

Wednesdays - Recipe - Baked Potatoe and gravy

Growing up I learned to cook a lot of different kinds of things from my dad.  He is a very good cook and passed on a lot to me even if most of the time it was against my will.  Today I will be sharing another really easy recipe that is quick and easy.  I will be sharing the ingredients for the gravy.  You can bake your potatoes in the oven or in the microwave depending on time.

Baked Potato and Gravy
3/4 to 1 lb hamburger
1 - 2 cans Cream of Mushroom Soup

First you brown the hamburger.
Add the Cream of mushroom soup and mix.  Use one or two cans depending on desired thickness.

See how easy that is.  We would bake the potatoes and put the gravy on it.  Then we would add sour cream and cheese.  Sometimes that was the whole meal and some times we would add another vegetable like green beans or something simple.

I hope that you all enjoy this recipe.  If you have any recipes that you would like to share please feel free to email me at IdahoAtHeart@gmail.com.  I'd be happy to share your recipes.

Purse completed! and upcoming items for the store.

I told you all that I was working on a purse for my sister in law.  I was a little nervous doing a purse since I had never done one.  I was also trying to get some other sewing projects done.  I found myself with some time to at least start on the purse and found that I really enjoyed it.  I kept finding more and more time to sew on it.  I do have to say that I was tempted to keep it for myself.  It is very cute and I hope that she will like it.  My daughter wanted to model it for us.
Here is a closer up picture of the purse.

This is a picture of the inside of the purse taken in a hurry on my way out the door.  It has two pockets on each side and on one side it even has a spot for a pen or pencil.

She sent me another pattern of another really cute purse that I will make as well.

Today I also bought several really cute towels from Target to turn into pull over bibs for babies and toddlers and a couple cute towels for grocery sack holders.  I will also be working on a sunflower table runner and a grape themed table runner.

A Goal shared with others will hopefully get accomplished.

I don't like making New Year's resolutions because by about the 2nd week in January I forget the goal.  I do better just setting normal goals.  I keep setting one specific goal and it never seems to work out the way I plan.

A little background.  While I was serving my mission in Russia I lost 50 pounds and got down to 170.  I loved being at 170.  I could maintain it and I felt very good about myself.  Then I got married and between college and homework and being newly married I gained a little weight and then I got pregnant with our oldest daughter Sarah.  I gained a lot of weight while pregnant with her.  I had gotten to my highest weight and wasn't happy about it.  After I had Sarah I tried the program "Slim in 6" and liked it other than the fact that I struggle with indoor workouts when they are always the same.  I get bored and eventually find myself doing nothing.

Then I got back into jogging (my last companion got me addicted).  I started jogging farther and farther and started losing the weight.  I eventually lost about 80 pounds in a year and got back down to 170 and was very happy.  I kept it off pretty well until I got pregnant with our second daughter.  My goal at this point was to eat better and exercise (things I didn't do while pregnant the first time).  I did better but living in a hotel for 2 months really didn't help.

So here I am 7 1/2 weeks after the birth of my daughter Yana.  I have about 30 pounds to lose.  I have been stuck here.  I am trying nurse my daughter even though I do not produce enough and exercise to lose weight.  I had started running and then we got hit with a huge snow storm here in Oklahoma and I couldn't run outside for fear I would get lost in the snow or slip and hurt myself.   So I have been trying to do the Biggest loser workout on my Wii and a kettle bell routine.

The thing I have learned in my weight loss journeys is that if I keep it to myself than when I don't succeed there is no one to disappoint besides myself.  So this is where you all come in.  I used to be able to lose about 8 to 10 pounds in a month and that was my goal originally.  I think that right now I should aim for half that until I figure things out.

My first goal will end March 11.  My sister in law is getting married on the 12th and I was hoping to be in my size 14 pants by then.  I can wear them now they are just really snug.  I want to lose 6 pounds by the 11th.  That means about 1 1/2 pounds each week.  I'll keep you posted every Monday how the last week went.  This way I will feel that I have to be accountable for what I eat over the next 4 weeks.

Sewing a purse - a first timer....

Well my sister in law asked me sometime in December if I could make her a purse to carry all of her stuff to church.  I emailed her several options and she picked out a cute purse to sew.  I went to the store with my husband and we picked out several fat quarters and other material to add to my collection and that is where it had stayed until a couple weeks ago.

I finally got material cut out and ready to at least start on the purse when I had time around some of my other current projects.  Today I was able to start sewing and have thoroughly enjoyed it.  My one problem is that I forgot to get the main color.  I am learning new things with every project that I do and I just thought that I would share one that came to mind while working on the purse.

This tip really has nothing to do with the purse it just came to mind while working on it.  When sewing a quilt of any size you can use a bed sheet as the back of the quilt.  That way you don't have to any seams and if you buy a set than it all matches.  It is really quick and in some instances cheaper than buying all the material for the back.

When I finish the purse I will post pictures for all to see.

I'm drowning in Recipe Books!

Despite every one's best intentions I have a cupboard of recipe books.  When I got married I received I think 10 recipe books from family and friends and they even came with things like our George Foreman and crock pots.  Then I got some for Christmas and birthday's, church activities and other things.  I love cook books and I love trying new things but I have so many of them that I don't use half of them.  Several of them are practically the same thing.

So my goal for the next few days is to go through my recipe books and narrow it down to a few.  I already know two that I will keep and continue to use.  I don't mind having a few but to have almost 20 that don't get used isn't doing me any good.

I like sharing recipes so I think my new goal is to try a new recipe each week so I can share it with you on Wednesdays.  If I don't start trying new recipes than I am going to run out of recipes to share.

Does anyone have any good ideas of what I can do with my extra recipe books that I will not be keeping?  If no one has any ideas than I will be taking them to Goodwill so someone else can use them.  If you want a recipe book let me know and I'd be happy to send you how ever many you want from the pile that I will not be keeping.

Well it is time to go sew.  Have a wonderful afternoon.

A good Family Home Evening.

So I know that we should be having Family Home Evening every Monday but we tend to slack off in this area.  We spend every evening together so deciding to spend time Monday night isn't out of the ordinary.  We did decide though that we need to have a more structured Family Home Evening.  It was very good.
Yesterday I went to www.lds.org looking for ideas for our Family Home Evening.  I wanted to do something on Obedience because we are really struggling with this with Sarah lately.

I cam across a lesson on Commandments and how they are gifts from our Heavenly Father because He wants us to be happy.  So after we sang "I am a child of God".  That is Sarah's favorite song and she knows all the words.  We talked about the commandments and then we sat down as a family and wrote out our own family rules.  They were mainly geared towards Sarah but can be applied to all of us.

Our Family Rules
1 - No throwing things.
2 - Put all toys away before bed.
3 - Be nice to each other.
4 - No food in the living room.
5 - Listen to mom and dad.
6 - No shoes in the house.
7 - Always say "Please" "Thank You" "Excuse Me" and "Bless You"
8 - Always have a prayer in your heart, and pray before every meal.
9 - Read the scriptures everyday.
10 - Love One Another.

Some might say that we have these in the wrong order and I would tend to agree.  We wrote them down as they came to use.  We would ask Sarah for ideas and then we would take turns thinking of a rule.

One rule that I would add to this is no jumping on the furniture but it hadn't been on my mind last night.  FHE was so nice.  It was nice to have it with our kids and I look forward to having FHE every Monday.

What kind of things do you do for Family Home Evening with your kids.

THE SNOWSTORM!!!!

Here in Oklahoma they don't have winters like I'm used to.  I kept asking my husband when winter was going to get here and he just kept saying that this was winter in the south.  I love snow and was hoping for snow and I got my wish.  We had had a snow storm a couple weeks ago and it was nice.  I wasn't going to complain because I got my snow.  Then we had the winter weather advisory saying that we were going to get 10 - 12 inches of snow.  I was so excited and was hoping that it would happen.
This is during the snow storm.  It was going to be a big one.  They kept adding inches to the forecast and when it was all said and done we ended up with 21 - 22 inches of snow.

The snow storm wasn't quite done but they wanted to go explore the snow.

Ya so my husband didn't go to work Tuesday or Wednesday and finally was able to go to work Thursday.  Wednesday we shoveled all morning to get the driveway dug out so we could make it to the road.  We had to borrow the neighbors shovel because we left ours in the storage unit (in Idaho) on accident.

Wednesday was a beautiful day and we are loving the snow.  We got another snow storm Friday but I think we might have gotten another inch.  We are supposed to get more snow on Sunday and some more next week.

We might just lose her if we let her go play.  We are loving every minute of this bizarre snowstorm.

The weekend when we blessed our daughter.

The last weekend in January we planned to bless our daughter and my husband's parents were able to come for the occasion.  It was a beautiful weekend.  It was 73 degrees Friday when they flew in and Saturday was 69.  We test drove a boat and then had a picnic.  It was a wonderful time at the campground where we like to go.  We had a fire and visited and just enjoyed being away from town.

We even made our own roasting sticks.  Grandpa is hard at work getting them ready for the hot dogs.  Sarah rode her bike and her scooter and just had fun.  I taught her how to gather twigs to help start the fire and she gathered a lot.  She is such a good little helper.

This is our daughter and she is 6 weeks old now.  We had her blessed on the 30th of January by her father, grandfather and friends.  I realize that in this first picture she doesn't look very happy.  I think that she was tired of all the pictures.

The unique thing about this blessing - that is between our two girls- is that I made this dress.  In my child clothing class one of our projects was blessing dresses and this is the one that I made.  I was so excited to see her wear it that I tortured her the night before and tried it on.  It was so cute.

Part of me wants to use it for a few Sundays but we wont.  It is going promptly into the hope chest where her sister's dress is also kept.

One thing that you can't really see is that she is wearing the same booties that her sister wore but also that her father wore when he was blessed.  They were made by his great grandmother.  I think that all of our children will wear them.

It was a wonderful day spent with family and we were sad to see Grandma and Grandpa go home.
